Who: Tim Drake, Open to all others.
Where: School of New Beginnings
When: 6/14 | Early morning

Tim Drake had remained quiet and out of the way during his time so far at the School. He knew this place wasn't his home. This wasn't his Earth. No matter what the medical staff had said wouldn't change his mind. Earth was real and he needed to find out how he got here so he could get home. Magic or alien tech seemed the two most likely causes of all this. He needed more information before forming any other theories. The Dai Li knew something but they weren't the informative types. Any answers Tim wanted, he'd have to get himself.

First thing was first though. He needed to stay in shape. He had located some clothes that the locals wore and hid his Robin uniform away. He didn't need anyone recognizing him as Robin without his mask on. He needed to get it back along with his weapons. They were most likely in the hospital if they hadn't been moved. Tim had to rely on his body and instincts. There was this whole thing about bending but he'd figure that out later.

He's outside in the courtyard of the school this morning. He moved seamlessly through various marital arts stances. He went through them slowly at first for his warm ups. After those, he did push-ups on the ground and then sit-ups. Next was a jog around the school a few times before going into practicing more fighting techniques. Quick punches, kicks, flips, and other fast-paced maneuvers. Tim was sure most would still be asleep at his hour but he could be wrong.

Who: Enigma and all of you fine people.
Where: outside School of New Beginnings
When: Thursday afternoon

The technology here at this Dai Li or whatever was primitive at best. It felt like he'd been thrown back into ancient China or some equivalent timeframe. He wasn't too familiar with ancient history, just of the present and his little obsessions with Batman, neither of which was truly helping him here.

That left Enigma with one option: to learn this fire-bending nonsense. He was never really the magic type, though he'd invented technology powered by it. He also knew the destruction it could cause; he'd seen it. But thinking of the past wouldn't do him any good. He'd use this power for good in a place where hero wasn't a dirty word.

He'd placed his wooden crooked question mark-like staff leaning against a tree, his usual gloves wrapped around the crook to keep them from getting dirty. He chose to attempt this fire stuff outside to prevent burning down the school. He'd generated a flame once before, and he chose to use the same method of replication. Holding out his hand, he traced a circular-type motion from shoulder to straight out in front of him. A small blast of fire did appear, well focused, reflecting his determination and strong-willed nature. It wasn't too powerful, though, for some odd reason and quickly disappeared. Perhaps it was his hesitation to utilize such an art.

Enigma frowned. He'd definitely need more practice.

Who: Henchman 24 and anyone - open
Where: School of New Beginnings
When: Afternoon of the 9th (although we're working on some time skips in the thread between 21 and 24)

"Stone. Real warm and homey." Standing in his new room, 24 took stock of his situation. He had the clothes on his back, a few coins and a new skill that he didn't quite believe. The trick with the candle, the feather, the stone and the bowl of water had felt like a cheap carnival game. No, he never won those. Maybe more like calling a psychic hotline and Miss Cleo tells him what she thinks he wants to hear. "Oh, I see fire bending in your future. It shows your great passion and determination."

Right now all he was determined to do was take a nap. Maybe when he woke up, he would find that it was all a dream. He unstrapped his wings and left them on the floor at the foot of the bed, then fully clothed, because he didn't have anything else to change in to, he collapsed diagonally across the mattress on his back. "At least this isn't stone, too. Aren't they afraid I'm going to catch my blanket on fire while I sleep?" he questioned no one in particular.

[personal profile] treize_khushrenada
Who: Treize Khushrenada - OPEN
Where: Dai Li Island, near the hospital and expanding outward. (Boarding house, market, run into him wherever!)
When: Afternoon of the fourth day.

Treize had been kept a few days at the hospital before the healers had even given him his test. Apparently, being brought back to life wasn't an easy business, and his injuries had made the ordeal even more tricky. Even if the healers had maintained he had been very much alive when he'd appeared; if badly wounded.

Now, he'd learned he could move the earth. Literally. All he needed was training. And training he intended to find, after seeing what he could teach himself first. Meanwhile, all that remained of his grievous wounds was a mild stiffness in a shoulder. Nothing, in the score of things. He was deemed fit enough to leave and sent on his merry way with the suggestion to return if the stiffness grew worse.

Something was clearly at work that he did not yet understand. But first? He started on his way to the boarding house that had been set up for those new comers, fully intending on stopping only long enough to pick up the bag of coins promised so he could get proper clothes for his new life. Ah, the things one learned when those in the know believed one unconscious or asleep.

Who: Enigma and OPEN
Where: somewhere on Dai Li, trying to find a replacement staff
When: Sunday afternoon

They had given him some tests. They said he could control fire. He wanted nothing of it. He had enough of magic already with the entire Trinity ordeal. He just wanted to resort to his technology and nothing more. To fix things. To finally be happy with his daughter.

And yet he was here somehow. They were telling him things he didn't believe. He'd been mistaken for other people before, often purposefully, but this time, it just felt weird. And so he did what he did best: slipped into the shadows and fled. He'd lost his shadow form. He didn't have his staff. He needed out.

Enigma stuck out like a sore thumb compared to the rest of the population. Long green jacket with white piping, green pants, and a metal plate covering the left side of his face. Totally sticking out. He just wanted to blend into the background, observing the people, seeing what they were like, how they ticked or act. He couldn't observe them when they kept looking at him.

So he walked. It was strange. Before he walked everywhere, but when he gained that other form, he simply whisked himself to where he wanted to go. Not the case, so he walked.

First order of business, before anything else, he needed a staff. It was part of him, an extension. Not having it felt strange and weird. The taller the staff the better. Preferably metal, but he would take what he could get.

Who: Wufei and anyone around
Where: Nearby the Dai Li hospital
When: Morning of the first

Even after the test, Wufei was somewhat skeptical about this whole 'bending' and spirits thing he'd gotten as an explanation. There were a whole number of tricks that could have been used to make the flame on the candle move, and none of them needed to be too sophisticated.

But he went through the motions of accepting the information and hiding his irritation over not having any of his weapons, all the while looking around for anything that could suggest a set-up. Forgotten bits of wiring showing, the sound of electronics. But there was nothing. And the feel of the new language on his tongue was... odd.

The Preventer left the 'hospital' quickly, having had enough of being watched. If he was going to escape, he'd need to know the layout of the area.
4nations_npc: (Dai Li)
[personal profile] 4nations_npc
Who: OPEN
Where: Dai Li Hospital, Dai Li Island
When: As new arrivals show up.

Strangers had been showing up for the last few hours. And while the locals were curious about the newcomers, they were perfectly willing to allow the Dai Li to handle them. The Dai Li acted like a police force across the five islands and would ensure that none of these people were dangerous. Weapons were confiscated, and items beyond the Dai Li's technological understanding were disposed of. Every newcomer was then taken to the hospital on Dai Li Island to be taken care of by the healers there.

Once they'd woken up, each newcomer was given a test. Four objects were set in front of them. A lit candle, a small bowl of water, a stone, and a feather. They were told to pass a hand over each object to see if they could move the element. If they could move one of the four objects, it meant that they were a bender. If not, then they were a non-bender. Each person was then told about the old school in Sing Village, a bit to the south. It was abandoned, but had rooms that the newcomers could use until they found work, or decided to explore the other islands.
